These groups are named, The Whitsunday Group, The Lindeman Group, The Molle Group, and lastly, The Northern Group, all of these groups include 74 islands. Of these only 8 are inhabited.
The Whitsunday Island is the largest island in the Whitsunday Group. Several of the islands are on the World’s Heritage list and the island group’s commercial centre is Hamilton Island.

Arlie Beach and Whitehaven Beach are the most popular and best located beaches.

The winter season, June and July, ranges temperatures between 11 and 22 degrees Celsius (51-71 degrees Fahrenheit). The wet season is January through March, which receives 60% of the 70 inches per year. The water temperature remains a fairly constant 77 degrees Fahrenheit year around.
