Whitsunday Islands is a grouping of islands East of Queensland Australia. They were originally formed due to volcanic action. The islands are separated into four groups. These groups are named, The Whitsunday Group, The Lindeman Group, The Molle Group, and lastly, The Northern Group, all of these groups include 74 islands. Of these only 8 are inhabited.
The Whitsunday Island is the largest island in the Whitsunday Group. Several of the islands are on the World’s Heritage list and the island group’s commercial centre is Hamilton Island.

The Whitsunday Islands are located within the Great Barrier Reef. If you are looking for the ultimate scuba diving location, this is where you want to be! 70% of the area is protected by National Park Reserves and Marine Park Reserves. They have many things to do including skydiving, scuba diving, snorkeling, marine observatories, sailing, kayaking, ocean rafting, golfing, shopping, and museum tours. Arlie Beach and Whitehaven Beach are the most popular and best located beaches.
Climate: During the summer months, December and January, the temperature averages between 23-32 degrees Celsius (73-89 degrees Fahrenheit). The winter season, June and July, ranges temperatures between 11 and 22 degrees Celsius (51-71 degrees Fahrenheit). The wet season is January through March, which receives 60% of the 70 inches per year. The water temperature remains a fairly constant 77 degrees Fahrenheit year around.
