Barbados is an island in the Caribbean. It is in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean. The largest city and the capital is Bridgetown. Barbados is the most developed island in the region, and is also the most popular for tourist or the Caribbean islands. The total area of the island is 167 sq. miles.

Barbados ClimateBarbados Climate: The climate of Barbados is considered tropical. June to November is the wet season. December to May is the dry season. The average yearly rainfall is 40-90 inches. Due to how far east it is in the ocean, Barbados misses most of the hurricanes. The last damaging hurricane was in 1955. The temperature stays a fairly constant 77 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year.

There is one airport on the island, Sir Grantley Adams International Airport. Transportation around the island is by taxi buses or helicopter shuttles. Barbados has a population of 281,000. English is the official language used, and also a regional dialect based off English called Bajan. The currency used is the Barbados Dollar, or BBD. 1 BBD is equivalent to 51 cents of USD.
